Why subscribe?

I’d love you to subscribe out of the goodness of your heart. It’s not a great pitch, but it’s mine. I write a lot. I post a lot. I feel deeeeeeeeply uncomfortable asking anyone to pay for my essays, but the truth is, I could use the jingle. At present, I’m trying to find an agent, sell a book, help my folks back home as they age, tutor online, kick out some copy for those hiring freelancers with an edge while still writing a bit about life, love, and politics in a way that brings something fresh to the conversation. There’s not a lot of free space in that schedule to spruce up my site with bells and whistles. So, yeah, I’d love it if you’d kick into the kitty, but I don’t have anything magical behind the paywall.

I know I’m a lousy salesman and self-promoter - but I’m happy, which is one hell of a consolation.

Stay up-to-date

When I do post, I’ll surely let you know!

I’m a homespun writer who is trying to build a community in support of my recent book, Incompatible With Life: A Memoir of Grave Illness, Great Love, and Survival, while also continuing to blog on the nexus points between history, politics, and the importance of goodness in a world of noise and chaos. Substack provides a perfect format for me to update readers of new work while giving friends and followers a way to actively support my efforts to bring the book to an agent, a publisher, and an even wider audience.

I’d really appreciate your support
